The injured worker suffered a cumulative trauma injury from 12/14/1987 – 10/06/2009 for multiple injuries including cancer, bladder incontinence, and psych which resulted in an award for 88% against the City of LA as a result of his employment as a police officer. After settlement of the workers compensation claim, an SIBTF claim was pursued by Silberman & Lam, LLP. The applicant had pre-existing injuries to his left lower extremity and spine. After two hearings the SIBTF agreed to a stipulation to 100% disability. The applicant was entitled to back benefits of $550,455.19 and ongoing benefits of $1302.10 per week increasing each year with a COLA. The estimated value of this award including the past due benefits and future benefits over his life expectancy is in excess of Two Million Dollars.
